lunerest botany

Wildwood smiles slightly at you as you enter their botanical library. They have information on plants that originate from Lunerest.

Lunerestian Moonflower

Probably the most common flower you'll see in Lunerest, it's found growing anywhere in Lunerest and can survive heat, cold, droughts, almost anything! Moonflowers grow in open places where they can absorb the most moonlight possible. Xyns and other Lunerestian creatures consume them or make tea with them often due to how much moonlight energy they store. They can come in pinks, blues, yellows and whites. The petals glow faintly whether attached or not attached to the flower.

Moonpine Trees

The most common type of evergreen in Lunerest, moonpine has thick, bushy, needly leaves and pale bark. They come in colours ranging from pale green, to white to pale blue. The Frostouched Pines have a ton of these trees. The sap is very sticky and xyns use it as a glue. The needles are edible but have a super sour flavour that most xyns don't enjoy. The pinecones are dark with frosty white tips. Some xyns like to collect and decorate them for holidays.

Dawnberry Trees

Dawnberry trees are a type of weeping tree that grow mostly around Moonreach and Wingfell but can be found in other forested parts of Lunerest. They have long branches that cascade downwards. The foliage is thick and orange-red with giant, colourful flowers. They grow small red berries that are sweet and tangy in the fall. The queens are particularly fond of these trees and flowers and play games with them during the Leafdusk Fete.

Bitty Berry Bushes

These bushes are common in the southeastern forests of Pixiehome. These tiny, but dense bushes are coveted by pixyn for their tart and sweet little blue berries. The leaves are edible and lemony fresh.

Purple Mango Trees

These trees are grown primarily in the Heartsong Isles as they like a lot of humidity and warmth. The trees have long, oblong leaves that come in dark blues or greens. The mangos themselves take a while to grow but xyns love them for their moonlight energy and sweet, floral flavour.

Pumpikorn Trees

These trees can grow pretty much anywhere in Lunerest but tend to thrive most in milder climates. You can find a lot of them in the Selune Woods, Wingfell and Pixiehome. They have pale orange or yellow leaves with dark, coarse bark and prickly branches. Pumpikorns fall from the trees in autumn.

Rainbow Carrot Plants

Rainbow carrots are a special root vegetable that only grows well in Lunerestian soil. They pick up the magic from Lunerest's soil which gives them their rainbowy colours. They tend to power up elemental magic and are known to be sweet, earthy and crunchy. The leaves are leathery and near inedible but have healing properties.

Swirlibuds

Swirlibuds are round, curled up little plants that grow around Wingfell. They're delicate and herbacious in flavour. A lot of traditional Wingfell recipes use these in their cooking since they're so prevalent and healthy.

Shooting Starfruit Trees

Shooting starfruit trees grow primarily in the southern parts of Lunerest. The trees are tall with teal, blue or green leaves and pale bark. Shooting starfruits are sharp and punchy; they make your tongue tingle. Xyns like making unique desserts with these fruits.

Cloud Wheat

Cloud wheat is a white, fluffy grain that only grows in the clouds. Elysium Heights grows a lot of cloud wheat to mill into sky flour for baking. The wheat absorbs moonlight energy and is good to keep your xyn's energy up throughout the day.

Butternut Trees

Can grow almost anywhere in Lunerest but they're mostly found in Wingfell and the Perilunal Plains. These trees have dark greenish-blue leaves and dark bark. The butternuts that grow from them are a delicious treat, they're filled with buttery, rich meat with a ton of moon energy.

Eggy Plants

Eggy plants are a unique plant that grows in Lunerest and produces egg fruit. The plants themselves are thick, blue vines with a sticky sap that it excretes. The small leaves are a bright green in contrast to the vines. The fruit is reminiscent of eggs, it's slightly sweet and very rich. Xyns use egg fruit a lot for baking.

Sunburst Flower

A flower that looks similar to an Earth sunflower, but don’t be deceived! These darker flowers quickly absorb tons of sunlight when the sun comes out. Afterwards, they’re supercharged and spread their seeds by gently bursting them out! Xyns seek them out after they’re supercharged because when consumed, they give a huge amount of energy for a few hours! The Sunburst Flower can be used medicinally in teas but a lot of xyns just seek them out to consume for fun. Sunburst flowers can be shades of yellow/orange/red.

Mooncheer

A cup-like flower that grows rarely in valleys between hills in Lunerest. These pale flowers have powerful little moonlike stamens that absorb tons of moonlight to use for pollination later. When there’s moonrain, the rain collects in the cuplike flowers and ferments into a powerful little potion that many xyns enjoy consuming. The mooncheer essence, as it’s called, causes a relaxed, dreamlike state for xyns. Tons of xyns seek to farm mooncheer just to collect the mooncheer essence for both medicinal and fun use. Mooncheer comes in pale whites, purples and blues.

Star’s Breath

Star’s Breath is a plant that grows tiny, bell-like flowers with little starlike stamens. Star’s Breath generally only grows at the tops of hills and mountains in just the right temperature making it difficult to find. Normally, xyns can’t really consume starlight but Star’s Breath absorbs and processes starlight in a way that affects xyns when consumed. Effects of consuming starlight in this way include feeling more giddy, playful, affectionate and may cause mild hallucinations. Star's breath has only ever been known to be white but in rare mutations it can be yellow.

Solifleur

Solifleurs are a rare flower only found on the tops of Lunerest's mountains during sun rises. It's bright and spicy in flavour. Lots of xyns really enjoy the burst of energy they give when consumed. They tend to be an extravagant, rare gift.

Faenip

A plant that grows in Etoille mostly in Springnook and Autumnswild; faenip is a mintlike plant that has a pleasant fragrance to it. When sniffed or consumed by faefolk, it causes mild hallucinations, feelings of relaxation and playfulness. Faefolk often like to make tinctures or teas with it. Faenip comes in yellow, purple and pink varieties.
