KNIGHT QUEST 1/3: ADAPTING

A tremor of anticipation runs through Glory; elation at how things were falling into place, at how hys xynlet fantasies were coming true. It began with the moons waning, with the cases of corruption increasing– though hys parents attempted to keep such news from reaching hys young ears. Only tales from hys older brother kept hym somewhat informed of outside occurances. But over time the situation worsened, became too difficult, too pressing for hys parents to hide. At the same time, from xynlet to xyn did Glory grow, and as hy grew, so did hys dreams of joining the Royal Knights to fend off this growing darkness. And now, at the climax of the threat, hy is finally old enough to begin training. Now, in a time when more than ever, xyns of a noble heart were needed to fend off the terrors brought by this villain to the land, to fulfill knightly roles and vanquish the evil, the corrupt. That now hys skills, energy, ambition, could be used to preserve the good and just.

That Samson- head of the Royal Knights himself- was bestowing the first task of his knightly training upon hym. That this assignment was not some menial chore, some frilly act of chivalry, but something of importance, something of weight. Updates from Oberon on reconstruction efforts had lead them to believe that there were still pieces of the relic missing. Therefore Glory would be responsible for searching for these fragments. Ears perked forwards, Glory listens intently as Samson informs hym of where previous relics had been found, where had already been thoroughly searched, where to investigate next. Then going on to share that another knight in training would be joining hym to help with finding the relics, as two sets of eyes are better than one. That, and traveling as a pair would provide an additional level of safety, for though the enemy army seemed to be concentrated so near, there was no knowing what dangers may remain further away that may be encountered while seeking relic pieces. Lastly, do not engage in combat with the enemy unless absolutely necessary, warns Samson. As much as possible, unless a critical threat appears, Glory was to focus on searching and leave fighting to the experienced knights.

Glory couldn’t help feeling excitement, feeling a thrill, despite how dire the situation was. Shoulders squared, head held high, hy pledges to do hys utmost to thoroughly fulfill this task. Firmly assuring that hy would search far and wide, staying alert for both relics and danger. Samson expresses gratitude for Glory’s ability to adapt to the situation, to these troubling times, and take on a duty above what would typically be asked of a knight in training. Unable to linger any longer when so many responsibilities rest upon his shoulders, Samson excuses himself, spreading his wings and departing. Left to hys duty, tingling with anticipation from head to tail, Glory heads off to find the fellow knight in training that would be accompanying hym.
