Legendseekers: The Moons Wane
Scene 1:
Greyfell is knighted the day that the Lunerestian queens officially announce that two of the moons in the sky have fallen dim.
The knighting ceremony is a grave one given the recent news- there is little fanfare or celebration once it begins. Many xyns have friends or family in the crowd to watch, but none of the many xyns from Greyfell's noblexym house are present in the ceremony. Inwardly, she wishes someone from her family was there to see her- but she knows why they don't want to.
Due to the call from the queens to investigate the state of the moons, Cyprian is awarded a Sunchaser Amulet by an associate of Oberon at the ceremony. She also chooses to accept a Telestone, believing that it would be the most beneficial tool for investigating the sudden change in the two moons.
Everyxyn that is knighted this day swear to help with the investigation of the moons. One by one, the rest of her colleagues are knighted too. Like Greyfell, the strongest of them are given Sunchaser Amulets, and those without amulets are still able to accompany them as reinforcements. All of them will depart soon for the Selune Woods or the Frosttouched Pines.
Scene 2:
After the knighting ceremony, Greyfell returns to the manor of her noblexyn home. She reluctantly greets her mother, the current matriarch of the house. Though she is normally stoic and unemotional around any other xyn, Greyfell suddenly turns meek, that ensuring she is especially obedient in the presence of her mother.
Her mother spoke to her coldly. "Your newfound knighthood, together with your journey to investigate the of these two moons is the last chance we have to restore honor to our fallen house. Do not shame the noblexyn blood that we both bear, for you already understand what will happen to you if you do."
"Of course." Greyfell bows her head to her mother in respect- but she is almost groveling, and her head is hung so low her nose barely brushes against the threads of the carpet beneath her. Suppressing the instinct to avert her gaze away like she does with every other xyn, she is struggling to meet the piercing stare of her mother- the scars on her face are reminders of the times that she failed to.
Greyfell leaves the manor to return to Moonreach to make her final preparations, before leaving for the Selune Woods. Outwardly, she expresses nothing, but her heart is heavy; the royal decree of the queens is not the only thing she has on her mind.
Scene 3:
Greyfell arrives in Moonreach to make final preparations to leave for the Selune Woods. Laforet greets her and surprises her with a small giftbox to both cheer her up and congratulate her on her knighthood. Greyfell sullenly accepts the giftbox, but doesn't open it, tucking it away to carry with her. Laforet is about to make a fuss, but notices she seems preoccupied by something that she cannot seem to talk about.
Laforet insists that Greyfell clearly needs company, and decides to travel with her to the Selune Woods.
Normally, Lafoet would be working now, but they are especially exasperated today: just within this hour, the Moxyn TV entertainment program that Laforet works for has temporarily stopped airing due to many of its actors falling listless and unable to perform- one of the many telltale signs of how much life is changing without the power of two of lunerest's moons. Now that Laforet is temporarily out of work and they have free time on their paws, they're determined to tell Greyfell that its important for them to investigate what's happening and help in any way that they can. (Secretly, Laforet also hopes that their endeavors to help will bolster their Moxyn TV fame further and attract even more adoring fans to their side once the program can air again.)
Greyfell lacks the emotion or words to express concern over Laforet's situation, and remains quiet. Laforet notices her unusual response again, and after considering the right thing to do, gives her a gentle hug. Greyfell normally shies away from any physical contact- but this time, she quietly accepts it.
Some part of her feels comforted that at least one xyn chose to spend time with her.
Scene 4:
After a long period of flying from Moonreach, Greyfell and Laforet arrive at the Selune Woods. On the surface, everything in the forest seems tranquil, but Greyfell's keen senses tell her that something is off.
Her Sunchaser Amulet begins to glow with a radiant light, and the tip of the amulet points to a circle of trees, shrouded in what seems to be a magical fog. The intensity of the negative emotions that Greyfell is bottling up fuel her strength in controlling the Sunchaser Amulet she wears. Both she and Laforet pursue the direction the amulet is pointing to, and soon they are enveloped in mist as they approach closer to their target; the scene is beginning to remind her of what she saw in the Corrupted Lands while on patrol, standing by the pool of water on the cliff and looking at the reflection of the moons...
They arrive in the center of the fog. All of the trees encircle a pond, which, despite the thick fog, clearly reflects all three moons as if nothing were covering it. Just like the pool of water in the Corrupted Lands, Yanwei still shines, but Trelissa and are muted.
The amulet still points directly to the reflections in the water, gently tugging at Greyfell's neck to encourage her to move closer.
Laforet stands back at the shore of the pond, encouraging Greyfell to step into the pool. Greyfell tentatively steps into the pool of water. It is shallow, stopping right at her ankles, and the ripples of water she generates barely disturb its mirror-like surface. She moves in further and stops just short of touching the reflections of the moons; it is here that the amulet shines the brightest.
Greyfell stares one more time at each reflection of the pool, then looks up at the sky.
What does Greyfell see, and what happens next?
Unfortunately I dont have the time or energy to put my full effort into a properly-written fic, so hopefully summaries of short scenes to create a brief story are sufficient. I want to draw thumbnails illustrations of each scene whenever I can.
I'm genuinely excited for Legendseekers am passionate about roleplaying, so I hope that this series of short scenes helps to introduce my favorite ocs and better engage with this questline.
Greyfell is the main character for my plotline, with Laforet being a supporting character.
