Frightful Fun

Moon and Star had already ventured into the Haunted Crystalcorn Maze once before, though they had been unable to best the maze and had to use their tickets to be whisked back out of the maze. They'd both had a lot of fun trying to get through the maze last time but this time they wanted to focus on the treats and games that were held within the maze.

"Does this look different to you than the last time we were here?" Star asked aloud as the two xyns took a left around a pile of carved pumpkins.

"Yeah it does seem different, I did hear some other xyns the last time we were here talk about how it changed each time they went in, so I think that's normal," Moon replied, taking in their options for which way to go next.

"Hmm, well I do hope we can find our way to the attractions. Though we can always try again I suppose, it's been nice walking through here with the scent of the corn and the sound of others roaming through the maze," Star pointed to the middle path as they kept talking and the two went down it.

"It really has been nice!" Moon exclaimed happily, then turned their head sharply as some loud rustling started near them. They peered closely at where the rustling had come from and suddenly, a little critter jumped out from the corn at them!

Both Moon and Star shrieked, Moon backing up into Star in their surprise at the creature who had scared both of them. It appeared to be a small rodent-like creature, colored like the dark night sky with specks of white all along its body. It sniffed around and squeaked before running in front of the two xyns and going back into the wall of corn opposite of where it had come from.

With the panic subsiding, Moon started to chuckle, with Star following suit after them, leading in to some loud laughter for a bit, the two partners leaning against each other as they settled down.

"Hopefully that's the scariest thing that happens to us in here," Moon said, Star nodding in agreement.

"Shall we continue on now?"

"Yeah!"

So they continued their trek, following the sounds of merriment that grew closer and closer for a span of time until finally they made it to a large clearing that was full of booths and games and other xyns having a great time!

"We made it!" Moon smiled widely up at Star, who grinned right back at them.

"Why don't we go try some of the food first, then we can play some of the games?" Star asked.

"Sounds like a plan to me hon!" Moon replied.

They went over to a nearby stall and each got some crystalcorn kettle corn, enjoying the mix of sweet and salty flavors. Once they were done with their treat, they walked over to the area filled with games. Moon took a turn at the "test your strength" game, surprising Star and the xyn running the game when they were able to ring the bell at the top of the game tower, winning a plushie which they happily hugged before placing it in the bag they had strapped over their back.

The two continued playing games for quite a while, long enough that they decided to just head home instead of trying to find their way through the rest of the maze and used the magical tickets they were given once again to leave the maze.

"Maybe on another day we can try one more time to get all the way through the maze before it's taken down?" Moon asked their partner as the two began walking away from the entrance to the maze.

"I'd like that very much dear, we won't let some measly plants defeat us next time!" Star declared dramatically, causing Moon to laugh.

"Yeah, exactly! We must defeat the corn!"

And with that the two took flight, giggling at their antics as they began their journey back home.
