"EEEEEEK!"
"AAAA"
"AAAA"
"......" Shadow stopped the exchange of screams and looked at his best friend Hui with an exhausted glare. "Hui, you jump at everything! That was just a rainbug on your shoulder"
Hui pouted "I can't help it, i startle easily" the white vexyn couldn't look his friend in the eye.

Shadow, usually quite tolerant and patient with his friend, showed a little frustration, "We're almost done with knight training! Are you gonna be this jumpy when we run into corrupted xyns? or the corruption beasts themselves?" The words came out of Shadow's mouth too fast and it was too late. His best friend lowered his ears and slouched.

Hui backed away a few paces and turned around. "You're right, we both know it. I need to grow a spine" Shadow had hit a sore spot. Hui then suddenly dashed off into the air before the grey vexyn could say another word.

The wind didn't usually hurt Hui's eyes as he flew but today it was difficult to see. "Pull yourself together" Hui muttered under his breath. Shadow was a mere speck in the distance as Hui dashed through the sky, the air getting a few degrees colder as the moons settled themselves directly above, indicating that it's evening time.

Hui didn't think about where he was flying to, but before long he found himself at a small abandoned castle. Just a few days ago Hui and Shadow's knight class had been told that there was some important relics in this facility, but stories of ominous noises had been echoing though the property. The knights in training where forbidden from going to investigate without knight mentors.

Hui landed in a tree not far from the deteriorating wall. There was a solitary lullay knight on patrol. Hands where in short supply since Oberon had needed a envoy to protect him during an important research mission in the corrupted lands. As soon as he returned they were going to investigate these ruins.

Hui wasn't going to wait. Hui wanted to prove himself. The vexyn dove in perfect formation, completely silent, through the trees and past the crumbled castle walls.

The white vexyn landed softly on his toes and carefully tip toed to a side doorway he found past a gnarly overgrown garden took root. There was a padlock on the door but he skillfully sliced the old lock off with the tip of his horn. He slipped inside and went straight for where he thought the cellars might be.

Hui stopped in his tracks as he heard an ominous howl through the corridor ahead. This is it, this is the time to prove himself, he thought to himself.

Hui took a deep breath and then stepped into the hallway.

What met him, was not the corrupted xyn he thought he'd see, but an injured moowolf. The moowolf howled again, sounding uncannily like a xyn. Hui carefully went up the the little creature and offered his paw, "let me take you to someone who can help." The moowolf whimpered and carefully climbed into Hui's outstretched arms as Hui gently took off and flew the two of them over to the very confused lullay knight on guard duty.

The next day Shadow had finally found Hui in the apprentice barracks. "Hui, I'm sorry for yesterday. I heard what you did, and it was incredibly stupid. If something happened to you and I wasn't there to help... anyway... just, take me with you next time you decide to put yourself in danger OK?"
